Mission
Why we exist and what guides our decisions.
Purpose
Okir exists to build agricultural supply chains that prioritize transparency, sustainability, and fair value distribution—from origin communities to end markets.
This is not a mission statement crafted for marketing. It is an operational constraint that shapes every decision we make.
What We Believe
Transparency is operational, not promotional
We document our work publicly not to build trust through messaging, but to create accountability through exposure. Our decisions, allocations, and constraints are recorded and version-controlled.
Sustainability is a constraint, not a feature
Environmental and social sustainability are not value-adds. They are non-negotiable parameters that limit what we can do and how fast we can move.
Long-term thinking requires structural patience
We operate without venture timelines or exit pressure. Our capital structure allows us to make decisions measured in years, not quarters.
Supply chains can be better
The agricultural supply chains that exist today were not designed with transparency or equity as priorities. They can be redesigned. We are attempting one such redesign.
What We Do Not Believe
We do not believe that market dynamics alone will solve supply chain inequities. We do not believe that certification schemes are sufficient. We do not believe that technology is a substitute for operational integrity.
We are skeptical of scale-first approaches. We are skeptical of promises made before work is completed. We are skeptical of our own assumptions and document our uncertainties.
How This Guides Us
Every operational decision is evaluated against these beliefs. When there is tension between growth and integrity, integrity takes precedence. When there is tension between speed and sustainability, sustainability takes precedence.
This document is itself version-controlled. Changes to our mission will be documented with rationale.
